UPDATE: Press Release

Two people were killed early Wednesday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. 160 Highway east of Winfield.

According to a release from the Cowley County Sheriff’s office, Timothy Call, 22, of Cedar Vale was traveling around 7:15 a.m. in a 1996 Chevrolet pickup westbound on U.S. 160 Highway near 141st Road when he crossed the centerline and collided with a 2004 Ford pickup, driven by Geraldine Patrick, 64, of Shell Knob, Mo.

Patrick was flown via Life watch to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where she later died.

A passenger in Patrick’s pickup, Patricia Blake, 58, of Dallas, Ga., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Call was transported to William Newton Hospital for his injuries.

The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, along with Winfield Fire/EMS responded.

Two women have died in a two-vehicle accident that happened about 7 a.m. Wednesday in the 15000 block of U.S. 160 east of Winfield.

The two women were in the same vehicle. They were heading east and were hit almost head-on by a driver going west in the wrong lane. That man has been transported to Wichita for his injuries, Sheriff Dave Falletti said.

The accident victims are from out of state, Falletti said, so their names will not be released until family has been notified. Falletti also said he would not release the name of the driver of the other vehicle at this time.
