The Arkansas City Lion's Club will hold a chili and beef stew dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Agri-Business Building.
It is the 17th annual fund raiser, which is always held on the second Saturday in March.
Money raised is designated to community service projects including: buying eye glasses for the needy, sponsoring Arkansas City High School band student to the Lion's State Band, scholarship for Ark City student to Cowley College, Ark City High School After Prom, Bobby Estus Bike Ride, Relay for Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Special Olympics, and more.
They also co-sponsor Youth Baseball, Arkalalah Street Games, and the Dick Metz Memorial Golf Tournament.
The Lions own and maintain Lion's Park, a public park northeast of Ark City. They started improvement at Veterans Memorial Lake by building a picnic shelter and installing a lighted flag pole. They set the large Silverdale stone sign at the entrance to the lake on Nov. 11, 2011. They post an avenue of flags on flag days to honor our heroes.
The club is expecting a large turnout on Saturday. Carry-outs available.
