SCKMC staff collect winter wear for kids

The team at South Central Kansas Medical Center has made looking out for the community’s younger members a priority.

Last week more than 115 winter clothing items were collected and donated by members of the hospital’s staff. The effort started in November, when employees started bringing in unused coats, hoodies, scarves, hats and gloves to be given out to those who need them.

The drive was led by executive office assistant Shawna Allison and was assisted by Nurse Ashley Lynn, whose department at SCKMC led the donations list with 40 items contributed.

The clothes were delivered Friday to Adams Elementary School, just in time for the first winter storm of the season.

As the hospital continues to grow, so does our commitment to the people of the community. In time, SCKMC hopes to work with as many groups as possible to expand the range of services offered.

SCKMC has recently partnered with Angels in the Attic, which has donated winter clothing to be distributed in the hospital emergency room at no cost.
