A new store that opened this week in Winfield is bringing items people would normally have to find online or out of town.

Winfield Local, at 206 E. Ninth Ave., Ste. 3, is a lifestyle boutique selling women’s and men’s accessories and graphic T-shirts, home goods, essential oils and jewelry, among other items. It has been open since Tuesday.

A Sip and Shop event with drinks and snacks is today from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. so people can come check out the new store.

Owners Brittaniee and Levi Donals said they moved back to Winfield from Kansas City a few years ago, and saw an opening here for items people would normally have to purchase in Wichita or online.

Levi grew up in Winfield, and said opening a store is an opportunity to bring unique products and brands to town while becoming part of the local small business scene.

Brittaniee said some of the items sold at Winfield Local are from brands she and her husband already know and love. She said they try to support other small makers, including companies that are woman-owned or ethically sourced.

This is the couple’s first experience with owning a business.

“It’s something we both really wanted to do, and we felt Winfield was the place to do that,” Levi said.

The couple each has their favorites of the items offered for sale.

Brittaniee likes the candles and necklaces. “I love a good-smelling candle,” she said. Levi likes the socks and belts, which come in a lot of different patterns.

The store space was renovated with new flooring, paint and shelving. Levi and his dad built, painted and stained the shelves and counter area where customers pay for their items. Brittaniee said Frontier Investments, owner of the building where the store is located, has been great to work with. The couple chose the name Winfield Local, she said, because it’s about serving the community they live in.

Brittaniee said the response has been good, with a steady stream of customers and positive comments on the Winfield Local Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
