Two Winfield residents were arrested and one juvenile was cited early Tuesday morning after being caught on a rural Winfield property without permission, a Cowley sheriff's report states.
One of the men also was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
Deputies responded at 1 a.m. to the 13000 block of 75th Road for a trespassing call. When deputies arrived they saw a garage door partially open. They entered the garage, where they found the two adults attempting to hide, according to a deputy's report. Both were taken into custody without incident.
A juvenile was located near a vehicle and cited for theft and possession of tobacco.
After searching the other suspects, Jacob Kelley, 22, of Winfield, was arrested for alleged possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and outstanding county warrants. He was booked into the jail on $11,000 bond.
Shannon Leighty, 23, of Winfield, was also arrested on scene for an outstanding county warrant and theft of motor fuel. He was booked into jail on a $2,500 bond.
Both remained in the Cowley County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon.
A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
