Former Ark Citian killed in Friday afternoon accident

A former Arkansas City woman was killed when her vehicle was struck by a semi Friday afternoon.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Erin Farley, 19, of Halstead, formerly of Arkansas City, was killed in an accident at the intersection of West 109th Street North and North 119th Street West, east of Bentley.

The initial law enforcement investigation determined that Farley was driving north on North 119th Street West around 1:30 p.m. in a 2008 Suzuki Forenza when a semi collided with her vehicle in the intersection. The accident is still under investigation pending who was at fault, according to the SCSO.

EMS responded to the accident, where Farley was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 2006 Freightliner semi, Thelma Vaughn, 56, of Wichita was not injured after both vehicles came to rest in a corn field, the sheriff’s office confirmed.
