An 8-year-old boy riding his bike and an SUV met in the middle of the intersection of Third Avenue and Minnesota Street about 7 p.m. Tuesday in Winfield.

Neither the driver of the vehicle or the boy saw the other approaching, a Winfield police officer said.

The SUV struck the boy, who was taken to William Newton Hospital by EMS with minor injuries. The boy was not listed as a patient at the hospital Wednesday.

The police did not issue any citations, said Sgt. Katasha Coupe, who covered the accident.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Office was also present until the EMS arrived, according to a sheriff’s report.
