Cowley County deputies responded to a called late Saturday night in regards to a motorist attempting to drive home when his vehicle was swept away by flood waters on 112th Road, north of Winfield. After several road blocks, deputies were able to find the man safe at a nearby residence, according to scanner communications.

When a deputy asked how the man got there, another deputy responded with, "he was trying to make his way home, detoured around some flooded roads and his vehicle began being pushed off the road by rushing water. He was able to make it out the window of the vehicle before the vehicle was pushed off the road," according to scanner communications.

A deputy was attempting to find the vehicle shortly after they found the man.
