Blake Porter

A former Winfield bar owner who also used to work as a Cowley County sheriff’s deputy was arrested and booked into the Cowley County Jail Thursday afternoon on suspicion of sex crimes.

Blake Porter faces one count each of rape and aggravated criminal sodomy, and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Cowley County attorney Larry Schwartz said Thursday that the charges involve one victim, who is under the age of 14.

Cowley County Sheriff Dave Falletti said Porter was booked into the county jail on $5,000 bond.

Porter formerly owned O’Kelley’s Sports Bar & Grill, which was located at 1014 Main St. for over a decade. The bar was closed in August 2010 as part of a bank foreclosure and later sold. Several other bars have been located in the space since then.

Porter also worked as a Cowley County sheriff’s deputy from April 1, 1994 to April 30, 1996, the county administrator’s office said Thursday.

Information on when Porter’s first appearance will be was not immediately available Thursday.
