The family of the man found deceased last week on railroad tracks in Arkansas City has started an online fundraiser to cover expenses.

“Our beloved cousin, Larry Hotchkiss, unexpectedly passed away in a tragic accident last night,” a page states. “Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to carry insurance. He was self-employed as a roofer. We’re raising money to pay for his cremation and associated costs. We are very thankful for all those willing to help during this sad time.”

Hotchkiss, 62, was found early Nov. 14 on BNSF Railroad tracks on South D Street. Police said it appeared that he had been run over by a train, but the case remained under investigation this week.

As of Thursday afternoon, seven people had donated $465 toward the $2,000 goal. The site can be found by going to and searching for Larry Hotchkiss.
