KDOT closes Cowley County road for bridge replacement

A gaping expanse between the east and west sides of 132nd Road shows where the bridge over Silver Creek was recently removed. According to contractors King Construction, it will take about three months to build a new bridge and will require the closing of 132nd Road from 201st Road to U.S. 160 Highway.

Construction for bridge replacement under Kansas Department of Transportation Project 18 C-4884-01 has started.

This project requires the closing of 132nd Road from 201st Road to U.S. 160 Highway. The bridge site is about 1/3 of a mile east of 201st Road over Silver Creek, southwest of Burden.

King Construction, which is performing the work on the project, have allowed 100 working days for the project, so this could stretch to several months.

Cowley County has no control over the road closing at this point. Any issues at the project location can be directed to the Cowley County Public Works Office during business hours, (620) 221-5425, or the 24-hour traffic control contact phone number, (918) 682-9393.
