KanPak was placed on a short lockdown Monday after someone reported a man with a gun walking down Summit Street, according to authorities.

Arkansas City and Cowley deputies responded just before noon to the 1000 block of South Summit Street for a report of someone walking down the street with a rifle.

KanPak was notified and proceeded with safety protocols to bring all outdoor employees inside until the area was checked.

Cowley Undersheriff Christina McDonald and Ark City police chief Dan Ward said the area was searched but no individuals matching the description were located and no case was opened.

KanPak resumed regular business after the area was cleared.
