Arkansas City might get yet another pizza restaurant, as Pizza Inn announced plans to expand its locations in Oklahoma and Kansas.

A press release emailed Tuesday from the company that owns Pizza Inn said Ark City was among six planned locations. The others are Stillwater, Enid, Blackwell, Perry and Tonkawa. The only date given was for Stillwater, which will open sometime next month, the release states.

No details were provided about when or where an Ark City restaurant would open, and an email asking those questions was not returned Tuesday. The release said that the new Pizza Inns are part of a development agreement with franchisee Tony Nemer.

Nemer was a partner at the Ponca City Pizza Inn and currently owns Golden Chick restaurants in Ponca City and Stillwater.

“We are excited to have Tony lead the way into some new markets for Pizza Inn,” Bob Bafundo, president of RAVE, the company that owns Pizza Inn. “Tony has an incredible success story. He started his career with Pizza Inn as a dishwasher at the Bethany, Oklahoma location. Eight years ago, he opened the Ponca City location as a franchisee. He’s a strong operator and lives the culture of Pizza Inn every day, so I know that these new locations will experience the same raving success.”

Three of the six new locations will feature the company’s new smaller prototype, the Pizza Inn Neighborhood model, the release states, although it was unclear whether Ark City’s restaurant would be one of them.

“This prototype has a smaller footprint than the Pizza Inn Hometown Buffet, while still offering the unmatched variety and value of Pizza Inn’s All Day Buffet, with more than 40 items available on its buffet and salad bar,” the release states. “It’s an attractive option for first-time franchisees due to a lower price-point than the typical buffet model and simplified operations.”

If Pizza Inn opens, it will join another restaurant featuring pizza going in at the former Sirlion Stockade building on North Summit Street — Pizza Ranch. Just this week, the owner of Railroad Brothers Inn, an Italian steakhouse, announced that he was searching for an Ark City location.

Existing pizza restaurants include Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Speedway Pizza, along with Casey’s pizza.
