A female pedestrian who was hit by a train in Winfield late last month will survive her injuries, but no other information is being released about the incident at this time, Winfield Police Capt. Chad Gordon said Thursday.

The woman, whose name is not being released, was injured after being hit by a train on June 29 at Amos Becker Road and U.S. 77.

Gordon declined to say if the incident was an attempted suicide or an accident. He did say that the woman is not from Cowley County.

The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office and the Cowley County Trackers assisted Winfield police with the investigation.

According to a press release issued soon after the incident, no other parties were involved.
