ACPD releases crime map to public

Analytical images are also available on the website, including this representation of the class of crime and how many from May 13 to present.

The Arkansas City Police Department has rolled out a new way for the public to easily stay informed about crime in Arkansas City.

The police department now has a publicly accessible online crime map called Community Crime Map, which can be accessed at www.communitycrimemap.com or bit.ly/accrimemap. All citizens are encouraged to look at this map, which also can be found in the left navigation bar in the Police Department section of the City website at www.arkansascityks.gov.

The Community Crime Map analyzes crime data, presents them in map form, alerts citizens about crimes in their area and allows Ark City police to quickly alert the public about crimes as they occur.

Ark Citians can view a map and grid with all of the crimes in their area, sign up for Neighborhood Watch reports that automatically email them a breakdown of recent crime activity, and submit an anonymous tip about a crime directly to the Ark City Police Department.

The map automatically syncs with the Ark City Police Department’s records system to keep crime information up to date online and in the mobile application. Community Crime Map displays all of the incidents on a map, grid and analytics dashboard, along with some basic information about the incidents, including the type of crime, location type, block-level address, date and time.

“The Arkansas City Police Department is committed to keeping our citizens informed and working together to combat crime in our community,” Police Chief Dan Ward said. “The Community Crime Map is just one more tool in our toolbox to help us to accomplish that mission.”
