An Oklahoma man was arrested on several felony county after attempting to elude officers in a vehicle and on foot, according to the Winfield Police Department.
Douglass Wilson, 56, was booked into the Cowley County Jail on charges of theft, flee and elude, interference with law enforcement, and two counts of possession of stolen property. His bond was set at $10,500.
According to a press release, officers went to PrairieLand Partners, at 2300 W. Ninth Ave., for a theft in progress. A white Dodge truck with an attached trailer fled when emergency lights were activated.
“Officers pursued the vehicle into rural Cowley County and through several fields before the vehicle wrecked,” the release states.
The male driver fled on foot and was detained by law enforcement officials not far from the vehicle. A female who also fled on foot was also found near the scene, police said.
Officers discovered the truck has been stolen from a business in Kay County, Okla., and the license plate had been stolen from a vehicle at a Ponca City dealership.
The female was taken to William Newton Hospital for evaluation and could face charges following further investigation, the release states.
A person is considered innocent unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
