Island Park Productions is host to their second concert of their Duck Jam in the Park Concert Series on Thursday.
Big Fat Fun, a party rock band that covers hit music from the ’60s all the way to today, will perform on the Island Park Performance Venue beginning at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public thanks to many sponsors, including the presenting sponsor, Tom Reynolds Trucking Co.
Last week’s concert, Handmade Moments, with opener One Way Traffic, was attended by about 250 who did well spreading out throughout the park to keep each other safe. Island Park Productions is hopeful that this week’s concert-goers will do the same.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or picnic blankets, as there will be no benches provided. Social distancing will be strongly encouraged for all concerts. People should come expecting to enjoy the concert with their core group.
The public is also encouraged to wear masks at the park entrance and exit, as well as in the bathrooms. Hand-washing stations will be placed throughout the concert area.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and beverages, including alcohol. The Winfield Lions Club will sell pork burgers with sides, and the Soroptimists of Winfield will serve desserts in the big Soroptimist Pavilion in the park. There will be Fourth of July-themed giveaways for the children, provided by the Island Park Productions Board of Directors.
Parking will be permitted only on the exterior of the park. The Winfield Masonic Lodge will help to guide vehicles to open parking spots. Those with handicap placards on their vehicles will be allowed to park inside and close to the stage.
The Island Park Productions Board want to remind all who attend to be respectful and do their part to keep themselves and others safe so that these concerts can continue. The remaining concerts scheduled for this year’s Duck Jam in the Park Concert Series includes: Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal on July 16, with opening act Jeremy Spring; William Clark Green, with the Tequila Songbirds on Aug. 6; and Jacob Tovar, with opening act Ken Pomeroy on Sept. 10.
