Barbara and Gerald Holscher

The family of Gerald and Barbara Holscher, of Emporia, is requesting a card shower in honor of the couple’s 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 23.

The two met on a blind date and were married Oct. 23, 1960, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield.

Gerald is retired from the Emporia Post Office (1966-92). Previously, he worked for Frito-Lay in Emporia and IGA in Eureka. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1955 through 1959, stationed in Japan. He grew up in Council Grove.

Barbara retired from Emporia High School (1979-94), where she worked as a study hall supervisor. She grew up in Winfield.

Their family includes sons, Mike Holscher and Gregory (Deb) Holscher; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chris Holscher (Alycia), Lee (Chelsea) Bickerstaff (Isaiah, Asher, Uriah), Nicole (Brandon Flint) Washburn (Destinee, Ariel), and James (Hannah Draper) Bickerstaff (Alexis, Nevaeh, Bently).
