Local couple welcomes city’s firstborn in 2020

Greyson Michael Crawford made his entrance Monday, being the first baby born at South Central Kansas Medical Center in 2020.

The baby’s original due date was set for Jan. 2, but the newborn arrived at 10:19 a.m. Monday in the birthing center, weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 21 inches long.

Greyson is the first-born child to Chase Crawford and Shanelle Roberts.

“I was really nervous, but also really excited,” Shanelle said. “We were together when we knew it was time, and now we couldn’t be happier.”

Greyson’s name was picked from a small list the couple had put together in anticipation of the newest addition to their lives.

“The name just sounded strong and smart.” Chase said.

The couple planned to spend a night at SCKMC before taking their son home for the first time.
