The City of Arkansas City might hire a temporary city-attorney tonight.

The City Commission has called a special call meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the commission room at City Hall to review and possibly approve a professional services agreement with a temporary city attorney, according to a notice emailed Monday afternoon.

Tamara Niles resigned last week after 14 years as city attorney, without a public explanation. Her last day of work was Sept. 5, but her official termination date is Dec. 4, according to separation agreement.

City Manager Nick Hernandez has proposed a selection committee to review applications for a permanent hire, with final approval from the City Commission.
