Southwestern College and the South Kansas Symphony are host to the fourth annual Honor Orchestra Festival on Jan. 21 in the Richardson Performing Arts Center. There is no admission and the public is invited to attend.

Approximately 70 high school music students will be on campus throughout the day, working with Southwestern music faculty and students. These nominated students come from Winfield, Arkansas City, Derby, El Dorado, Independence, Wichita, Goddard, and Ponca City, Okla.

The honor orchestra at 6 p.m. will accompany Amanda Li, the college’s new director of choral activities and voice. The concert will also feature this year’s guest orchestra from Winfield High School, conducted by Southwestern alum Ashton Humbert.

“We appreciate The Trust Company of Kansas and Stephen English for sponsoring this concert,” said Amber Peterson, South Kansas Symphony conductor and assistant professor of music at Southwestern.
