It’s an exciting time for the Burford! The theatre renovation will be complete this week! On Monday, the 300 balcony chairs arrived in front of the building by semi-truck from Irwin Seating Company. They were quickly moved indoors and lifted up to the balcony. A crew began installing the legs first, then added the backs and seats. This was all completed in just four days. And they are beautiful! The seats are permanent fold down style and the fabric matches the movable seats on the floor. Stop and by and we are happy to show them to you. The name plates of donors are being engraved and will be added soon.

The Burford, owned by B&B Theatres, closed in December of 2004. How long has it been since you have seen a movie from the balcony? This Sunday, A Star is Born double feature will be shown. First the 1950’s version of the movie staring Judy Garland at 1:00 pm, followed by the 1970’s version staring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson at 3:00 p.m. It’s only $5 to see one or both.

Several kid movies and Dead Poets Society, coffeehouse style followed by a poetry reading are scheduled later this summer.

Often people tell me stories of growing up going to the Burford, having their first kiss in the balcony or getting engaged there. Come start some new memories.
