The 2019 Outdoor Family Movie Series will resume May 31 in Arkansas City with a showing of a Marvel hit under the Wilson Park rotunda, 701 N. Summit St.

The 2018 surprise “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” will be shown starting at 8 p.m. Friday. This PG-rated film is sponsored by United Agency. It is an hour and 57 minutes long.

In the film, teenager Miles Morales becomes the Spider-Man of his reality, crossing his path with five counterparts from other dimensions to stop a threat for all realities.

Six more movies are planned this year, including several other recent animated hits and a fourth edition of the popular “pool movie” at Paris Park Pool. (More pool event details will be announced later.)

Next month, the movie series will return to Newkirk for a third straight year. The current remaining schedule of 2019 Free Friday Family Films is as follows (more to be announced later):

• “Ralph Breaks the Internet” — 8 p.m. Friday, June 14 at Kay County Courthouse in Newkirk;

 “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” — 8 p.m. Friday, June 28 at Wilson Park;

• “Aquaman” — 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 12 at Paris Park Pool (free admission starts at 7 p.m.)

Three more movies will be shown in the fall, in conjunction with other planned events.

In case of inclement weather on any movie night, the movie will be postponed to the next Friday.

“We are so appreciative of the generous sponsors who make these wonderful events possible,” said City Manager Nick Hernandez.

“If you are interested in being a sponsor in the fall, please call me or Andrew Lawson at (620) 441-4415 to discuss pricing. Sponsorship rates have not changed from 2018 rates.”
