Marquee Performing Center will present the Kansas Short Film Showcase at 7 p.m. Saturday at Messenger Recital Hall on the Southwestern College campus. Admission is free.

Seven short films created by area filmmakers including Wichita Film Collective, America’s Front Porch, Axis IV Productions, and Ace Studios will be shown in an hour-long event. Audience members will be introduced to the films by films’ creators and will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite film short.

“A variety of styles is included in these original works,” board member Allyson Moon said. “There is comedy, suspense, and, just right for the Halloween season, some horror and farcical horror. The evening should be a lot of fun.”

Some films contain adult content and language.

Marquee, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit effort. The mission is two-fold in nature: first, to preserve and restore the former Winfield Fox Theatre building on Main Street; second, to offer a multi-purpose facility that provides entertainment, education, and cultural events for the community.
