Sixteen members and three guests attnded the Winfield Soroptimist International meeting held Friday, Sept. 20, at the Winfield American Legion under the leadership of president Ruth Parman.
Kami Moore, Leigh Nihart and Sherri McNutt presented the program on the Winfield Irving Elementary School’s volunteering opportunities. If anyone is interested in volunteering at the school, contact the school directly. They also spoke of creating an outdoor classroom for their students and the opportunity to purchase bricks or pavers to be used around the permanent structures. These must be ordered bfore Oct. 1. The club will be purchasing a brick.
Two new members were installed into Winfield Soroptimist International. They are Jenni Warren and Cassandra Davis.
The club will be gathering food items for the Winfield Community Food Pantry at each of their business meetings. They will also be collecting sample products of personal hygiene items to be given to those in need in the community.
Lydia Farley and Judy Kunkel will represent the club as delegates for the upcoming annual South Central Region fall meeting on Oct. 4-6 in Quapaw, Okla. Also attending will be Diane Williams and President Ruth.
The club is selling Terri Lynn nuts and candies that may be purchased from any club member prior to Oct. 4.
Wednesday, Oct. 16 – all day – will officially be “Soroptimist Day at Boss Hog’s Restaurant.” The club will receive a percentage of sales, over $10, on that day. Funds will be used toward helping women and girls in our community to help reach their full potential. Come and eat and help with our fundraiser to help Winfield residents.
The club’s 50-50 Lucky Duck drawing was again won by Stephanie Nulik.
Kristin Humphries was the winner of a beautiful mum plant given by President Ruth.
The next board meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 2, and the next business meeting is Friday, Oct. 4, both at noon at the Winfield American Legion.
