Members and guests are invited to the July meeting of the Walnut Valley Quilters’ Guild at 5:30 p.m. July 8 at Cornerstone Bible fellowship Church, 3725 E. Ninth Ave., in Winfield. 

The guild is excited to welcome Carol Elmore, AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser, speaking on “Facts and Fallacies of Quilt Appraisals.”

Elmore has been making quilts for more than 30 years, giving lectures that detail quilt history, appraising and collecting, especially textiles featuring dogs. Her workshops include quilt dating, hand piecing and making Scottie block quilt collectibles.

Judging quilt shows and presenting lectures and workshops has taken her to numerous states. Her affiliations include American Quilter’s Society Certified Appraiser,

American Quilt Study Group, Professional Association of Appraisers of Quilted Textiles and the Kansas Quilters Organization.

Elmore lives in Manhattan, Kan. She has a masters degree in library science and works as librarian at the Veterinary Medical Library at Kansas State University.

Walnut Valley Quilters Guild consists of members from several counties in south central Kansas and north central Oklahoma. Monthly meetings are held the second Monday of the month and include interesting programs on quilting.
