Nineteen members and three guests attended the business and luncheon meeting of Soroptimist International of Winfield on Nov. 3.

President Judy Kunkel led the meeting. Those attending were Kathryn Schuster, Lydia Farley, Treva Harrod, Donna Thompson and great-granddaughter Zoey McNulty, Sheryl Clower, Dee Ledy, Lin Lewis, Susan Long, Doris Reynolds, Doris Beeney, Roxann Taylor, Betty Bradley, Mary Lucas, Diane Williams, Melody Everitt, Terri Seidel, Trudy Kamphaus, Ruth Parman, prospective member Shelly Putman and guest speaker Christi Powers.

Members Harrod, Clower and Ledy helped with the blood drive Nov. 2.

A report was given by the attendees from the District II meeting Oct 27-29 in Carthage, Mo. The Winfield club was recognized for its work during the previous year.

Plans are under way for the community Thanksgiving dinner. Reservations can be made by calling Thompson at (620) 221-1909 or Toni at (620) 222-5148.

The dinner is provided for individuals and couples who find themselves alone on the holiday. The dinner is Nov. 23, at the First United Methodist Church in Winfield. A social time starts at 11:30 a.m. with sugar-free punch. The meal will be served at noon. Members signed up to provide food and work that day.

The program on elder abuse was given by Christy Powers. Abuse can be physical, emotional or sexual. One out of 10 persons older than 50 will be a victim of abuse. For help, contact Adult Protection Services.

Terri Lynn’s nuts have been received, and extras are available at the Winfield downtown location of Union State Bank.

A 50/50 raffle was held and Kathryn was the winner.

The next business meeting will be at noon Nov. 17, and the next board meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 29, both at the Winfield American Legion.
