Twenty-four members and two guests attended the business meeting of the Winfield Soroptimist club on Nov. 15 at the Winfield American Legion. Ruth Parman presided over the meeting. Guests included Debbie Clark and Pam Brown.

The program was given by Debbie Clark with Big Brothers, Big Sisters. How to get involved was the topic. She passed out information and told of new posters, Better Together, being distributed.

Sign-up sheets were passed around for items still needed for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at 11:30 am. Nov. 28 at the United Methodist Church in Winfield.  

The minutes were approved as read, and the treasurer’s report was given.

Sheryl Clower of the projects committee reported that she and Treva Harrod delivered sweatpants, leggings, soaps and shampoos along with a $50 check to purchase lunches for kids to Winfield High School counselor Dustin Atkins.   

Roxann Taylor reported that the Bunco game night still had a few tickets for sale.

Diane Williams reminded members of the  Soroptimist Annual Soup Supper in January, and she passed out tickets to the members to be sold.

Mary Hinkley reported that the Tuesday’s Table meal went off well, and a good crowd attended.

The Christmas Party is at the chamber office Dec. 6.

A vote was taken and passed to reduce the price of club cookbooks to $10. 

Pam Brown won the Lucky Duck drawing.

The next board meeting is Dec. 4, and the next business meeting is at noon Dec. 6, both at the American Legion.
