LTC Shae D. Weide, Kansas Army National Guard, graduated from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa., with a master's degree in Strategic Studies on July 26.
He earned the distinction of a Superior Graduate by being in the top third of his class.
Gen. Joseph L. Lengyel, the 28th Chief of the National Guard Bureau and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, addressed the graduates about the readiness of the National Guard and its core missions.
“The educational highlights of this program for me was learning to think in a more strategic manner and analyzing past military campaigns,” Weide said.
The U.S. Army War College’s two-year distance education program develops senior military officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, as well as senior foreign military officers and civilian officials from a variety of federal agencies, to serve in strategic level command and staff positions worldwide.
LTC Weide serves as the S-3 Operations Officer for the 635th Regional Support Group in Wichita. He resides in Pretty Prairie, along with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children, Landon, Collin, and Kathryn. He is employed with Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
LTC Weide is the son of Steve and Lupe Weide, of Arkansas City.
