Steve and Virginia (Nellis) Hensley of Arkansas City recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 20.

Everyone is invited to join and honor them at a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. July 20 at Bible Christian Church, 2411 N. Eighth St., in Arkansas City.

They were married at Dexter Christian Church, officiated by Bill Baker. Steve was in the U.S. Navy for four years and served a tour of duty to Vietnam on the USS Midway working as a jet mechanic. After an honorable discharge he worked at Gordon-Piatt, John Deere and Pleasant Valley Township, then owned and operated his own gravel business, Hensley Dump Truck Service. He retired from GE in November 2013, after 17 years there. Virginia taught school in USD 470 (1972-76), then was a homemaker while raising a family. She then worked at First Intermark, Dr. Maechten’s dental office as a receptionist and as an insurance clerk, retiring in 2009.

Their children are Stephanie Legleiter and husband, Kurt, and Amber Endicott and husband, Dustin. They have four grandchildren, Zach, Abbey and Blake Legleiter, and Cooper Endicott, all of Ark City.
