The Arkansas City High School Class of ‘49 celebrated its 70th class reunion Oct. 24 at Daisy Mae’s Banquet Room. A total of 22 were present, of which 13 were classmates. Folks came and went all day, starting with donuts/rolls and coffee, then followed with lunch of their choice. The festivities continued with a “Happy Hour” then the main dinner which consisted of three different selections.
Everyone enjoyed visiting and reminiscing about their high school days; sharing favorite memories and remembering their favorite teachers. A prize of pecans was given to Jim Thomas, who traveled the farthest, from Aurora, Colo.
No one seemed in a hurry to leave, and there were lots of hugs and kisses as they parted.
Those in attendance included: Belva (Tipton) Gardner, David Walker and sister, AJ Holloway, and Jim Bossi, all of Arkansas City and Jim’s daughter, Cathy Miller; Bobbie (Hawkins) Aupperle, of Stillwater Okla.; Joe Cary and daughter, Cathy Wilcox of Newkirk Okla.; Donna (Livingston) Folger and daughter, Deb Richardson of Galesburg Ill.; Walt Rickel and wife, Jackie, of Tulsa Okla.; Jovita (Garcia) Snow, of Blackwell, Okla.; Jack Stark and wife, Gail, of Wichita; Jim Thomas and daughter, Lisa Lavelle, of Aurora, Colo.; Pricilla (Hutchinson) Wilson, of Mission Hills; Roger Warren and wife, Linda, of Hanover; and Ed Virden and wife, Diana, of Springfield Mo.
