Trail Run raises a record $7K

Wheat State Wine Co. presented the William Newton Healthcare Foundation with a check for $7,000 during the seventh annual Wine-O Trail Run on May 4-5.

Wheat State Wine Co. is host to the run every year as a benefit for the foundation.

“The hospital and its foundation are blessed with the continued support from Wheat State Wine Co. Winfield is lucky to have a business that is so invested in the well-being of the community,” foundation director Annika Morris said. “This run is such a unique event for the area and brings in visitors that wouldn’t normally travel to our town or support community healthcare.”

Wheat State Wine Co. used proceeds from the two-day event to make the donation to the William Newton Healthcare Foundation. The funds will benefit the Second Century Campaign at William Newton Hospital. The Wine-O Trail Run consistently attracts more than 300 runners for its 10K and 5K runs and the Two-Mile Walk, including participants from Kansas and surrounding states.

Next year’s run is scheduled for May 16, 2020.
