Pet support

Winfield Middle School Builders Club raised money for Cowley County Humane Society by sponsoring an ugliest/cutest pet contest. There were 33 entries, and students voted in jars with cash or tickets given for supplies for the Humane Society. WMS students presented $500 to the Humane Society. Trophies and prizes were awarded at the end-of-the-year assembly, and Teresa Cox, from the Humane Society, spoke to the students about Cowley County Humane Society and how important their contributions are. Winning dogs and their owners are, from left, Rufus, second place, with owner Heath Reed; Butterbean, third place, with owner McAllister Morin; Reeny, honorable mention, with owner Riley White; Cooper, first place, with owner Mark Thompson.
