Museum Friends to Meet on Sept. 16 at historic location

Z.N. Dunlap built the Walnut Valley Fruit Co., on Winfield’s Main Street in 1915. It soon became a thriving business, with fruits and vegetables shipped to many locations throughout the country.

Museum Friends will meet at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16, at the former site of Walnut Valley Fruit Co., at 512 Main St. There are still banana hooks in the basement in what is now the site of Home on the Range.

Information about this early Winfield business will be shared. There will also be a short Friends business meeting.

Everyone is invited to attend. To ease parking issues, consider sharing rides.

Museum Friends supports the Cowley County Historical Society in its efforts to share the past with the future.
