Senior suites

Lake View Estates senior apartments in Arkansas City is expected to be ready for residents before the end of summer, Garrett Warther, the general labor contractor on the project, said Monday. The 48-unit complex in southwest Ark City received low-income tax credits and includes 36 rent-subsided units, according to previous information provided by city officials. Warther said there is a waiting list of 70 people already. Heavy equipment operators on Monday worked on laying concrete pipes for diverting water away from the houses to a reservoir and into nearby Veterans Lake. The general piping contractor said rain caused some delays in the past week. An existing reservoir was pumped out to continue work in the area, after about two inches of rain turned the construction site into a muddy mess.
