No injuries in highway accident north of Ark City

No one was seriously injured Friday afternoon after an accident between a semi-tractor trailer and a pickup truck.

Law enforcement and fire/EMS responded around 2:30 p.m. Friday to the U.S. 77 Bypass and U.S. 77 Highway, north of Arkansas City for a reported injury accident involving two vehicles.

According to an eyewitness, the semi pulled out in front the pickup truck, causing the accident. One patient was checked out, but denied transport to the hospital, according to an Ark City fire official.

Kansas State Troopers took the report.

I’ll repeat others I’ve talked to, protect rural drivers at this intersection! Any auto insurance reps got my back? Car fatalities are top cause of unnecessary death in under 50 (maybe older?) for rural communities. We must speak up and protect!
