The Cowley County Fair Board made the decision on Monday night to cancel the 2020 county fair due to COVID-19, according to information posted on the board’s official Facebook page around 10:30 Monday night.

The decision was made after consulting with officials from the city-county health department and the City of Winfield, the announcement said.

The virus has led to other events being canceled, including the Walnut Valley Festival in September.

More information will be released when it becomes available.

Cancelling the Cowley County Fair is absolutely ridiculous. Covid-19 is not the worst disease that has been encountered in this country; we need to continue to live, work, and do daily activities. The news media has scared everyone beyond reality. Common sense has been thrown out the window! The shutdown of our country was a huge mistake and has cost many their livelihood. Many have died because they couldn't get medical procedures needed for illnesses in a timely manner because of the shutdown.

It’s like the domino effect one event gets canceled and every other event follows! So no 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! And also the Sky is falling! Thanks Media for causing this! You all our pathetic!
