Area crop producers, chemical applicators and anyone interested in wheat production and agronomy are invited to attend the Cowley- Sumner K-State Wheat Pre-Plant Meeting at 6 p.m. Monday in the Oxford High School commons.

TKSU Wheat and Forages Extension specialist Romulo Lollato is host, along with Allan Fritz, professor of Wheat Breeding, who will provide a wheat breeding update and address variety selections and results for the south-central region, as well as general planting information.

The meeting will be a great opportunity for area producers to discuss last-minute wheat planting options with neighboring producers and state specialists and to discuss other topics that may be of interest to producers.

This meeting is sponsored by K-State Research and Extension of Cowley and Sumner counties. Dinner will be provided and sponsored by American Ag Credit and Winfield Crop Insurance. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Reservations to assist meal planning can be made by calling the Cowley County Extension office at (620) 221-5450 or Sumner County Extension office at (620) 323-7477, by Friday afternoon.

Elizabeth Espino is the Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent for Cowley County Extension. She can be reached at (620) 221-5450 or espino@ksu.edu.
