Disc golf course is alive

Two past FFA officers, Caleb and Corbin Liermann, had the vision to bring a disc golf course to the community about 2 1/2 years ago. There were setbacks in engineering the baskets, not having enough time due to COVID-19, floods, money and changing locations, but more than 20 Ark City FFA members were finally able to set up the baskets and play the course Tuesday at R. Cox Park. The city will soon add signage, tees, some park benches and more garbage receptacles. There are so many people that helped get this project in the park, but a special thanks to the City of Arkansas City and Arty Hicks and all his local disc golf members. Their vision and expertise have been phenomenal.
