Born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 29, 1934, in Uvalde, Texas, she was the daughter of Alta King Kennedy, the youngest of six children. She received her education in west Texas, moving with the family to Winfield in October 1944. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1954 before moving near her grandparents in Enid, Okla. There she worked as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell before returning to Winfield in 1956.

On Feb. 2, 1957, she married Otis Kennedy. They made their home in the Prairie View community west of Atlanta before retiring to Winfield in 2001. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary earlier this year.

Delia took pride in farm life as well as raising and supporting her sons, Kirk and Troy, through school, 4-H projects, basketball and numerous other activities. She fondly remembered past family vacations and other travels.

Sewing, crafts and baking were just some of her hobbies. A good day for Delia was going to garage sales and then spending time at Island Park. She was a member of the Christian Crafters, the William Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Prairie View Methodist Church.

Delia loved her family and looked forward to any gathering with extended relatives. She especially enjoyed having her grandchildren grow up on the family farm.

She was preceeded in death by her mother and her siblings, Lou, Berwin, Bob, Dan and David.

Surviving Delia are her husband, Otis, of the home in Winfield; her sons, Kirk (Nancy) Kennedy of rural Atlanta and Troy (Kathy) Kennedy of Oxford; her grandchildren, Alan Kennedy, of Wichita, Jeremy Kennedy, of Moore, Okla., Katrina Kennedy, of Winfield, Mauryn Kennedy, of Lawrence, Elizabeth (Guillermo) Botello, of Houston, Texas and Ben Donals, of Wichita; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
