Chad Dwayne Chisholm, 50, of Arkansas City, died Monday, May 4, 2020, at his residence.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at Springside Cemetery. The casket will be open for friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established with the Arkansas City Recreation Commission. Contributions can be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are being made through Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory of Arkansas City. Online condolences can be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.
Chad was born Aug. 25, 1969, in Arkansas City, to Cecil Chisholm Jr. and Sharon (Howard) Chisholm. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1987. He attended Cowley College on a baseball scholarship and later Fort Hays State University on a wrestling scholarship.
Chad was a lover of life. He played baseball and wrestled as a youth in Ark City, earning a Class 5A Kansas State championship in 1986. He was a New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed raising and caring for fighting roosters and spent many Saturday evenings at Sankey’s riding bulls, having only met his match once on a bull named “Bodicious.” He also enjoyed spending time with his favorite “four-legged companion,” Jax. His greatest love and best enjoyment was time with his daughter, Korbyn, and brand new grandson, Royal.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil, in 2013.
Survivors include his daughter, Korbyn; grandson, Royal; mother, Sharon Chisholm; sister, Sherry Nelson; and brother, Chip Chisholm, all of Arkansas City; sister, Shelly Chisholm, of Tulsa, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
