Chantha Sopha, 71, of Winfield, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
According to Chantha’s wishes, cremation will take place following services.
Chantha Sopha was born on May 7, 1948 in Thakhek, Laos, the son of Chanthep and Paxta Xayachack. He married Joyce Sopha on Jan. 1, 1970, in Thakhek. The couple later divorced.
Chantha moved in 1986 to America with his family and began working for Levi Strauss in Amarillo, Texas. After working in Amarillo for 20 years, Chantha moved to Winfield and worked for Rubbermaid for 10 years. He retired in 2010.
He enjoyed mechanics and working on cars, watching soccer and football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, and he loved spending time with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his children, Daravone Sopha, Oraya Sopha, Pari Sopha, Vatthana Sopha and Valerie Hernandez; grandchildren, Mitchel, Alexis, Chyenne, Tyreese, Nakhai, Brooke, Cyrus and Ezra; and siblings, Boupha Xayachack, Yeck Xayachack and Onh Xayachack; and partner, Chanh Keosybounheuang.
