Robert E. Unruh, 88, and Mary L. Unruh, 83, of Canton, died Nov. 22, 2019, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Canton.
A funeral service for Robert and Mary will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at Canton United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Canton Township Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at the church. A memorial has been established with the church, Canton American Legion, Canton Township Carnegie Library or the Canton Fire Department, in care of Olson’s Mortuary, P.O. Box 355, Canton, KS 67428.
Robert was born Nov. 24, 1930, in McPherson, the son of Dave J. and Della May (Decker) Unruh. He was a retired plumber, electrician and farmer.
Mary was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Emporia, the daughter of Clarence and Esther (Nielson) Griffith. She was a retired bookkeeper.
They were united in marriage on April 20, 1958, in Marquette.
Their daughter, Julie Toon, preceded them in death on March 3, 2017.
Survivors include two sons, David (Barbara) Unruh, Clarksville, Tenn. and Russell (Cheryl) Unruh, Galva; a son-in-law, Tim Toon, Winfield; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Robert is also survived by a sister, Darlene Everhart, McPherson; and a brother-in-law, Charles Regier, McPherson. Mary was an only child.
