Vaits Forrest Fulk III, 67, of Newkirk, Okla., died early Thursday morning, Aug. 1, 2019, at his home.
Cremation has been effected under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Vaits Forrest Fulk III’s name to the Kansas Veterans Cemetery and mailed to 1208 N. College St., Winfield, KS 67156.
The son of Vaits Forrest Fulk and Delores (Golightly) Fulk, Forrest was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Winfield. He grew up and received his education in Winfield, and graduated from Winfield High School with the Class of 1969.
Following graduation, Forrest proudly served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1975.
Following his discharge, he and Veronica Coon married Oct. 12, 1979. To this union two children were born, Dustin and Austin. The marriage ended in divorce.
Forrest learned heavy equipment operation after the service and was employed by Dick and Linda Dozer Service in Winfield and later River Ridge Construction in Newkirk, Okla.
Forrest enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, farming, operating dozers and sharing stories. Most especially, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by two sons, Dustin Fulk, of Winfield, and Austin Fulk and his wife, Ashley, of Wichita; his mother, Delores Godsey, of Winfield; three sisters, Marlyn Fulk, of Winfield, Linda Jones and her husband, Walt, of Newport News, Va., and Brenda Fisk and her husband, Kelly, of Powder Springs, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Kaiden, Kinsley, Kashtin, and Kingston.
