Leverett D. Borel, 82, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at South Central Kansas Medical Center.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23 at First Assembly of God Church in Arkansas City. Burial will follow in Parker Cemetery. Pastor James Newman will officiate.

Leverett was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Shattuck, Okla., to Lorin and Lizzie (Dixon) Borel. He moved with his family to Arkansas City at 6 years old. He attended local schools, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1957. He married Ellen Hendrix on Oct. 27, 1983, at First Baptist Church in Arkansas City.
Leverett worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Kansas Highway Department for 21 years, retiring in 1997. He was member of First Assembly of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loretta Belew.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen, of the home; stepson, Chad Gelino, and stepdaughter, Drenda Reed, both of Arkansas City; five stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
