Kelly Wayne Joseph Covey, 58, of Wichita, formerly of Arkansas City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Sam Brand will officiate. Cremation will take place after the Mass. A private burial will be held at a later date. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
A memorial has been established for the Men’s Fellowship in Wichita. Contributions can be made through Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.
Kelly was born Aug. 13, 1961, to Anna Louise Hart and Richard Eugene Covey, in Arkansas City. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City. His high school years were spent in Joplin, Mo., where he graduated from Parkwood High School in 1979. He was active in football, baseball and wrestling as a youth. He loved to fish. As a loyal friend, he was always willing to help anyone.
Kelly was employed by Powers Roofing as a roofer. He also worked as a glazer in Texas and Kansas. His most recent occupation was as a sealer in Wichita.
Kelly was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Covey; father, Richard; stepfather, Warren Miley; aunt, Margaret Covey; and grandparents.
Survivors include his mother, Louise Miley, of Arkansas City; siblings, Janet Bismark and husband, Ted, of Parkerfield, Richard Covey and wife, Paula, of Austin, Texas, Mary McCarley, of Polson, Mont., Barbara Standerfer, of Arkansas City, and Terry Covey, of Arkansas City; stepsiblings Linda Garver and husband, Jack, Carolyn Anderson and husband, Steve, Becky Bowman, Bob Miley and wife, Kathy, David Miley and wife, DeAnn, and Tommy Miley; his Missouri family, uncle Bob Covey, Bob, Ben, Dennis, and Eddy Covey, Marie Russell, and Theresa Bateman; his nieces and nephews whom he liked to antagonize, Richard and Tye Smyer, Leonard and Arnold McCarley, Shawn and Ryan Standerfer, Kirk, Josh, and Eric Covey, Emily, Keith, and Brittney Roberts, and Jade O’Connell.
