Ellen Colleen Pond, 79, of Arkansas City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, at Reflection Living in Wichita.
Cremation has been effected.
A celebration of life is 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. The Rev. Mervin Hershberger and Pastor Gary Brewer will officiate.
A memorial has been established for Alzheimer’s and Similar Diseases. Contributions can be made through the funeral home.

Ellen was born Feb. 22, 1940, to Everett and Vivian (Brant) Grace in Laverne, Okla. She attended school in Mutual, Okla., graduating from high school in 1958. After high school, she attended Panhandle State for a year before coming home to care for her mother and siblings.
On Sept. 14, 1962, she married Lloyd Pond in Buffalo, Okla. The couple made their home in Woodward, Okla., before moving to Arkansas City in 1978.
Ellen worked for the Fort Supply State Hospital phone switchboard, election board, shipping/receiving clerk at Montgomery Ward and as a dietary aide in a nursing home. She was a homemaker and housewife who loved sewing, crafts, puzzles, board games, baking, cooking and planning family reunions. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Ellen was also very active in church where she taught vacation Bible school and Sunday school, directed Junior Church, and directed the Christmas plays. Ellen was a longtime member of the Church of God (Holiness).
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Wichert; brothers, Everett "Bud" Grace and Dale Grace; brother-in-law, Wayne Wichert, Randell Carrell, Eugene Carrell, Virgil Aytes and David Pond; niece, Becky Whitten; and nephew, Randy Carrell.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Pond, of the home; children, Carol Maxwell and husband Jim, Charles Pond and wife Nancy, all of Arkansas City, and Joy Trillo and husband Victor, of Wellington; grandchildren, Holly Maxwell and Chad Brown, Derek Maxwell and Thomas Wehmeier, Lindsey Pond and Daniel LeBlanc, Bryson Pond, Austin Pond, Heather Trillo and Jacob Caceres, Brian and Ana Trillo, Auston Trillo, Antonio Trillo, Sophia Trillo and Makenzie Trillo; great-grandchildren, Tori and Wyatt Leffew, Morelia Chavez, Roger, Gabe and Sydney Horne; siblings, Gayle Whitten and husband Don, Linda Aytes and Melvin Wilson, John Grace, Jane Carrell, Janice Lee and husband Gary, Carol Cosner and husband Chigger, Sue Best and husband Roland and Bill Wilson; sisters-in-law, Judy Grace, Martha Blandy and husband Richard, Camille Pond, Linda Mayberry and husband Kenny, and Susan Abrams and husband Steve; and numerous nieces and nephews.
