Shirley Ann Pringle, 87, of Winfield, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
Memorial services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
Visitation with family at Miles Funeral Service is from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.

Born Aug. 12, 1932, in Winfield, Shirley was a daughter of William Henry and Ruth Elizabeth (Abbott) Craig. She was raised on a farm in the Mount Vernon area and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1950.
Shirley married Jack Pringle on Dec. 24, 1951, in Winfield. She began her nursing training at William Newton Hospital before moving to El Dorado to attend Susan B. Allen School of Nursing. She graduated in 1953. She and her husband returned to rural Winfield in 1954.
Shirley worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Wells Kaufman Clinic and William Newton Hospital. She held many positions while working at the hospital, including house and central supervisors and emergency room nurse. When she retired in 1994, she was a Special Nursing Unit RN.
Jack preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 2012.
Shirley was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winfield since April 1949. She was also a former member of the Kansas State Nurses Association.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting Fostoria, farming, gardening, cooking, sewing, playing the piano, working crossword puzzles, attending church group and genealogy research.
Her family and country living made her most happy. She would schedule her work vacations to help with harvest. She loved being outside, mowing the lawn and making things look nice.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Hanks, and her brother-in-law, H. Wayne Hanks.
Her family includes her son Jack Pringle Jr., and wife, Kim, of Winfield; daughter, Ruth Anderson and husband, Ross, of Leawood; grandchildren, Craig Pringle, Carrie Bond and husband, William, Libbie Bryant and husband, Dru, and Lexy Partain and husband, Sean; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Harper and Hadley Bryant, and Jack and Cora Partain.
