Leticia Hess, 71, of Arkansas City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Winfield Senior Living.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Sam Brand will officiate. Burial will follow in Parker Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory.

Leticia was born April 12, 1948, to Juan F. and Guadalupe (Montenegro) Avila, in Durango, Mexico. She was reared and educated in Durango, where she graduated from high school. Leticia and her family then moved to Chicago, where she attended and graduated from cosmetology school.
She married Dale Hess on April 9, 1978 in Chicago, where they made their home. They moved to Arkansas City in 1985. Leticia worked as a sales lead for Rubbermaid for many years until her retirement. In her spare time, Leticia enjoyed going to the casino, shopping and cooking, but most of all, she cherished her friends and family. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Leticia was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her children, Alfonso Ochoa and husband, Kevin Fuchs, of Chicago, Julie Shippy and husband, Jerry, of Kansas City, Mo., Jennifer Hess and companion, Steven Crane, of Arkansas City, and Jason Hess, of Arkansas City; siblings, Alma Muniz and husband, Mac, Yolanda Avila, Lupe Marques and husband, Louie, Hector Avila and wife, Teresa, Patricia Montenegro-Avila and husband, Carlos Ruiz, all of Chicago; grandchildren, Jordyn, Jaxston and Preston Hess; and numerous nieces and nephews.
