Fred Kawik Sr., 67, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at his home in Winfield.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the First Baptist Church, 220 N. Chautauqua St., in Sedan, with Pastor Bucky Sitsler of the West Kansas Avenue Church of God in Arkansas City officiating. Burial will be in Peru Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dickens Family Funeral Home in Sedan, with the family receiving friends at that time.

Fred was born Dec. 31, 1949, in Germany, to Paul and Loni Kawik. He graduated from school in Germany in 1967. In 1972, Fred made his way to the United States via the Weaser Agent Vessel for the Merchant Marines.

Fred married Lily Holloway, and two boys were born to this union, Fred Kawik Jr. and Michael Kawik. The couple later divorced.

Fred then married Rose Mary Brown, and they later divorced.

Fred also married Sheryl Few, and they later divorced.

Fred lived in Peru from 1989 until 2009. He owned and operated Kawik Tree Service for many years. Fred lived a few places before moving to Winfield in 2012.

He loved spending time with his kids. He loved to read, woodwork and mill his own lumber. He also enjoyed his Siberian huskies and his cats.

He was preceded in death by one brother and his parents.

Fred is survived by two sons, Fred L. “Freddy” Kawik Jr. and wife, Tiffany, of Winfield, and Michael Kawik and fiancée, Michelle Morales, of Altoona; 11 grandchildren and many family members and friends.
